The Commercial Scientific series is purpose-built for laboratory and research environments. Unlike the home Pro line, it gives you independent control over both freeze and shelf temperatures, lets you program how those temperatures change throughout the cycle, supports up to 120 saved presets, and provides real-time pressure monitoring — all essential for research applications where precision and repeatability matter.

The Medium processes 1–2 gallons of wet material per batch across its five stainless steel trays. The actual yield depends on the density and moisture content of your samples. For higher-volume needs, the Large handles 3.5–6.5 gallons and the X-Large reaches 7–9 gallons per batch.

No — the Medium runs on a standard 115V outlet and requires no dedicated circuit or special installation. This is one advantage it has over the Large and X-Large models, both of which require a dedicated 20-amp NEMA 5-20 circuit. Simply place it on a stable counter with adequate ventilation and plug it in.

You create and save fully customized freeze-dry recipes — specifying freeze temperature, shelf temperature, and how each changes over time — and store up to 120 of them for instant recall. Once you've dialed in the right parameters for a specific material, every future batch for that material uses exactly the same settings automatically, eliminating manual reconfiguration and ensuring consistent results.

Both options are available. Manual mode gives you hands-on control over temperature and pressure adjustments throughout the cycle — useful when working with novel materials or fine-tuning a new recipe. Automated mode lets you set your parameters up front and walk away, with smart sensors monitoring progress and alerting you when the cycle is complete.

The low-profile oil-free scroll vacuum pump ships standard with every Medium unit — no upgrade required. It requires no oil changes or filter maintenance, making it well suited for busy lab settings where minimizing upkeep is important.

The Medium is the right fit for university labs, small research facilities, QC testing environments, or R&D departments working with smaller sample sizes of 1–2 gallons per batch. If you find yourself consistently maxing out capacity or needing to run multiple batches to get through your workload, the Large (3.5–6.5 gal) or X-Large (7–9 gal) will deliver better throughput for the same level of precision control.

Harvest Right covers the full unit and oil-free vacuum pump for one year from the original ship date. Years two and three include a limited warranty on the sealed refrigeration system — compressor, condenser, evaporator, and tubing. Consumers are responsible for diagnostic charges and transportation after year one. Coverage applies to the continental U.S. 48 states.
