Scaling a hydroponic grow to eight plants usually means stacking multiple small pumps and running a maze of airlines that are hard to balance. The Vivosun 5 Gal DWC Hydroponic System 8 Bucket Kit runs eight independent, light-blocked 5-gallon reservoirs from a single 35W air pump. It delivers 60 L/min of adjustable output at under 40 dB, so you can grow up to eight plants, each on its own nutrient program, from one centralized air supply.

Air distribution is split into two dedicated manifolds. A 1-to-2 splitter sends pump output to two 8-outlet air diffusers. One feeds the eight air stones that oxygenate each reservoir, and the other drives the eight drip lines that lift nutrient solution up through each water inlet tube to its top-feed drip ring. An air regulator on the drip side lets you balance drip volume against aeration across the whole system, and 16 inline check valves prevent backflow toward the pump.

Each black, light-blocking bucket includes a lid with an 8″ net basket, a pack of clay pebbles, and an external water level tube with a floating red ball, so you can check all eight reservoirs at a glance. A 24 m roll of 1/4″ tubing gives you plenty of length to arrange the buckets in a grow room or large tent. Frequently Asked Questions

How does one pump supply all eight buckets? +

The pump connects to a 1-to-2 splitter that feeds two 8-outlet air diffusers. One diffuser sends a line to each bucket's air stone for aeration. The other sends a line to each bucket's water inlet tube, where rising air lifts nutrient solution to the drip ring.

How do I install the check valves? +

After connecting all 16 air tubes to the two diffusers, cut each tube near its diffuser and insert an inline check valve. Follow the airflow arrow on each valve so air flows from the pump toward the bucket. The valves prevent solution from flowing back into the lines.

How do I balance drip flow and aeration? +

Use the air regulator on the line feeding the drip-irrigation diffuser to control how much air goes to the drip lines relative to the air stones. You can also adjust the pump's overall output for more spray volume and more oxygenation throughout the system.

How much water goes in each bucket? +

With the power off, fill each bucket with clean water or a low-concentration nutrient solution to about 24 cm (9.5″), approximately the lower part of the basket. Each bucket's floating red ball shows when its level drops.

Should the air pump stay on around the clock? +

Yes. Vivosun recommends keeping the pump on continuously, because both drip irrigation and reservoir oxygenation stop in all eight buckets when it's off.

Why does a drip ring spray in bursts or stop? +

Intermittent spraying is normal for this air-driven drip design. If a ring stops flowing, move the clay pebbles aside to check that its outlet isn't blocked, then cover the ring again. Once the pebbles are fully moistened, they create an even root environment.

What are the power requirements? +

The air pump draws up to 35W on 120V/60Hz power with a standard NEMA 1-15P plug. It's a customized pump, so Vivosun advises against replacing it with another brand's pump, and it should sit on a flat, dry surface away from water.

Can I use the 8 Bucket Kit outdoors? +

No. The system is designed for indoor use only. Avoid placing it near heat sources, in hot and humid environments, or anywhere below 4°C.

Can I transplant seeds or unrooted cuttings directly? +

The system is designed for seedlings and cuttings that have already started rooting. Root them first in a propagation setup, then place them in the net baskets so their roots sit below the drip ring.
