Vivosun 5 Gal DWC Hydroponic System - 2 Bucket Kit

Growing two plants in a shared recirculating loop means one plant's problem, like root rot, a pH swing, or a nutrient mismatch, quickly becomes both plants' problem. The Vivosun 5 Gal DWC Hydroponic System 2 Bucket Kit keeps each plant in its own independent 5-gallon reservoir. You can grow two different varieties side by side, each on its own nutrient mix, from a single 8W air pump.

Each bucket combines deep water culture with a recirculating top-feed drip ring. The 4-outlet air pump delivers 4 × 4 L/min of adjustable output, running two lines to each bucket: one to a ball air stone that oxygenates the reservoir, and one that drives solution up through the water inlet tube to the drip ring over the clay pebbles. An airflow regulator on each bucket's drip line lets you balance drip volume against bubbles, and inline check valves prevent backflow toward the pump. The pump runs under 40 dB.

The external water level tube does more than show the level with its floating red ball. Unclip it and rotate it downward to drain the bucket, or pull a small sample for pH and EC testing without disturbing the plant. The 8″ net baskets and included clay pebbles support each plant while keeping the upper roots aerated. The Vivosun 2 Bucket Kit is designed for indoor use in grow tents, grow rooms, and other indoor spaces, and works best with seedlings or cuttings that have already rooted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose independent buckets over an RDWC system? +

In the Vivosun 2 Bucket Kit, each plant has its own reservoir, so you can run different nutrient mixes for different varieties. It also keeps a problem in one bucket from spreading to the other, which can happen in a shared recirculating loop.

What water level should I maintain? +

Fill each bucket to about 24 cm (9.5″), near the bottom of the basket, until roots grow out of it. After that, you can lower the level slightly to give roots breathing room, but keep it between 20–24 cm so the drip ring keeps working. Check levels every 1–2 days, especially with large, fast-growing plants.

How do I drain a bucket or take a pH/EC sample? +

Place a container under the bucket, unclip the top of the water level tube from its buckle, and remove the red floating ball. Slowly rotate the tube downward to drain, or stop once you've collected a small sample for testing. Then replace the ball and snap the tube back into its buckle.

What pH, EC, and water temperature should I target? +

Vivosun recommends a pH of 5.8–6.5 and a water temperature of 70–78°F (21–26°C). EC reference values run from 0.5–1.0 mS/cm for propagation, 1.2–2.0 for vegetative growth, and 2.0–3.0 for flowering. Monitor pH and EC daily for the best results.

There are bubbles, but the drip ring isn't flowing. What should I check? +

Make sure the water inlet tube is tightly connected to both the air tube and the drip ring, and that its lower inlet is submerged. The drip system needs the water level to stay at a certain height to work. Also check that clay pebbles aren't blocking the ring's outlet, and note that intermittent spraying is normal.

Is it normal for the air pump to vibrate? +

Yes. The pump vibrates in proportion to its air output. Place it on a flat surface away from water, and contact support if it shakes enough to move around.

Why is green algae or white residue forming on the clay pebbles? +

Algae grows when damp pebbles are exposed to light, so add shading above the pebbles to prevent it. White residue is normal: minerals such as calcium and magnesium from the nutrient solution collect on the pebble surface.

Can I transplant seedlings from rockwool or root cuttings directly in the bucket? +

Seedlings started in rockwool can go straight into the basket and be surrounded with clay pebbles. Cuttings should be rooted first in a propagation setup, since placing unrooted cuttings directly in the bucket isn't recommended.
