THROUGH THE Cultivator's LENS Hands-On Evaluation

  • You are upgrading your water system because you are tired of the flow rate dropping whenever you add a new manifold
  • You are building a custom waterfall or fountain because you need enough head height to overcome your elevation

  • The rotatable outlet is a lifesaver because it saved me from buying extra elbow fittings to clear my plumbing wall
  • We like that the motor stays cool with the wet bearing design since it prevents the pump from failing in tight spaces

  • Buyers who run their systems 24/7 say they appreciate that the quiet motor does not disturb their patio workspace
  • Customers using these for hydroponic setups say the pre-filter saves them from cleaning the impeller every week

Vivosun 120W Submersible Water Pump (2700GPH)

An undersized pump can't push water up to a waterfall outlet, and a loud one ruins a quiet backyard. The Vivosun 120W Submersible Water Pump (model PG2700-S) moves up to 2,700 GPH (10,000 LPH) and lifts water as high as 15 ft. It still delivers 1,295 GPH at 6.6 ft of head, all on just 120W and at a quiet 30–40 dB.

A wet rotor/wet bearing design keeps the motor running cool. The shaft and drive ring are made of silicon carbide ceramic to reduce wear over long run times. A removable pre-filter screen blocks large debris before it reaches the impeller, and the IPX8-rated housing is built for continuous submersion. The outlet rotates through five positions from 0° to 180°, so you can aim the discharge where your plumbing needs it without extra elbows.

The Vivosun 120W Submersible Water Pump runs fully submerged or as an inline pump in dry installations. It suits ponds up to roughly 420 gallons, fountains, waterfalls, aquariums, hydroponic systems, and irrigation lines. A 20.3 ft (6.2 m) power cord, a carry handle, and included hose fittings make it easy to set up. The pump is designed for fresh water only.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much flow will I get at my waterfall's height? +

Flow drops as head height increases. The Vivosun 120W Submersible Water Pump delivers 2,700 GPH at 0 ft, about 1,295 GPH at 6.6 ft, and 700 GPH at 9.8 ft. Measure the vertical distance from the water surface to your outlet and check the Flow Rate by Head Height table above.

Can I run this pump outside of the water? +

Yes. The pump works in both wet (submerged) and dry (inline) installations. That gives you flexibility for ponds, filter systems, hydroponic reservoirs, and irrigation lines.

How do I change the outlet direction? +

Place the pump flat on its base and rotate the pump body within the handle/stand to lock it at Notch A, B, or C for the three middle positions. For the two outermost positions, remove the impeller chamber cover and rotate it manually into place. The included user manual has diagrams for all five positions.

What size tubing does it use? +

The pump has a 1-1/4″ inlet and outlet and accepts 1-1/4″ or 1″ ID flexible tubing. Multiple sizes of insert fittings are included to help match your existing plumbing.

How do I clean the pump? +

Unplug the pump, then rotate the impeller chamber cover counter-clockwise to remove it and expose the impeller. Spray debris out of the chamber and off the impeller with a garden hose, and check that the inlet screen isn't clogged.

Can I use it in a saltwater tank or sandy pond? +

No. The pump is designed for fresh water only. Avoid pumping sand or extra-fine grit, because the water-lubricated rotor assembly can fail if abrasive particles pass through it.

What should I check if the pump stops working? +

First make sure the circuit breaker is working, and try another GFCI outlet to confirm the pump is getting power. Then check the discharge, tubing, and inlet screen for blockages. Remove the impeller cover and confirm the impeller spins freely by hand.
