THROUGH THE Cultivator's LENS Hands-On Evaluation

  • You are planning a commercial lighting retrofit because managing dozens of individual fixture drops creates a complex and costly electrical mess.
  • You are looking to streamline your facility layout because frequent adjustments to your lighting footprint cause downtime with traditional hardwiring.

  • The locking IP67 connectors provide a much tighter seal than standard NEMA plugs, which matters when you are spraying down floors near live power.
  • We suggest mapping out your amperage draw carefully, as this system is excellent at cleaning up ceiling clutter but still follows basic circuit limits.

  • Managers who switched to this modular system report they now finish lighting layout changes in hours rather than full days of labor.
  • Facility owners say they saved significantly on contractor fees because the initial install is the only time they need an electrician on site.

Photobio AC Power Distribution Tree | 40A Cables & Panel Mount

Traditional NEMA plug-and-outlet infrastructure adds up fast in commercial grow facilities — each fixture requires its own receptacle, each receptacle requires licensed labor, and every layout change means rewiring. The Photobio AC Power Distribution Tree replaces that approach with a modular 40-amp daisy-chain system that allows multiple PHOTOBIO fixtures to share a single AC circuit drop with IP67-rated locking connections, EMC suppression, and UL listing across every component. Compatible with high-efficiency fixtures like the Photobio MX2 680W, the CX 2125 850W, and the TX2 800W S5, the system is rated for use up to 480V and delivers significant savings on both electrical infrastructure and contractor labor.

The system builds outward from the Panel Mount Pigtail — hardwired into a ceiling junction box by a licensed electrician — and then becomes fully plug-and-play from that point forward. Power Link Cables serve as straight trunk lines to span distances and bridge aisles; Power T Cables add a 1.5-foot branch at each fixture connection point in a 1:1 ratio. All four components are available here as a single listing — select the variant that fits your installation stage. Installation and service must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Features

40A Daisy-Chain System

Multiple fixtures share a single 40-amp AC circuit drop, dramatically reducing the number of dedicated circuits and receptacles required versus traditional NEMA infrastructure.

🛡️
IP67-Rated Locking Connections

All connections are IP67-rated locking M25 or EN100 connectors providing complete dust protection and resistance to temporary water submersion throughout the system.

UL Listed

The entire AC Power Distribution Tree system is UL listed, meeting the safety and compliance requirements for commercial indoor farm and greenhouse installations.

📡
EMC Suppression

Built-in electromagnetic interference suppression protects signal and power integrity in commercial grow environments. For long signal runs, use the Photobio PHOTO-LOC 0-10V Signal Repeater, and verify output with the Photobio Advanced Quantum PAR Meter.

🔌
Plug & Play After Initial Tie-In

Once the Panel Mount Pigtail is hardwired by a licensed electrician, all downstream connections are fully plug-and-play — no further electrical work required for layout changes or fixture additions.

🏗️
Up to 480V Rated

10AWG braided flexible copper wiring with 40A capacity supports voltages from 120V through 480V, covering the full electrical service range of commercial grow facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AC Power Distribution Tree system work?+

The system starts with the Panel Mount Pigtail — hardwired by a licensed electrician into a ceiling junction box with minimum 40-amp service. From that point, Power Link Cables (straight trunk lines) and Power T Cables (trunk-with-branch lines) are connected in combination to daisy-chain multiple fixtures from that single circuit drop. All downstream connections after the initial tie-in are fully plug-and-play.

Which variant should I start with?+

Every installation starts with the Panel Mount Pigtail — it is the required entry point that gets hardwired into the junction box by a licensed electrician. From there, use Power Link Cables to span distances and Power T Cables (4.5′ or 6.0′ trunk depending on fixture spacing) at each fixture connection point in a 1:1 ratio. Hydrofarm's complimentary lighting design services can help map out the right combination for your layout.

What is the difference between the 4.5′ and 6.0′ T Cable variants?+

Both T Cables feature a 1.5-foot branch line and use the same M25-to-EN100 locking connectors — the only difference is trunk length. Choose the 4.5-foot trunk for tighter fixture spacing and the 6.0-foot trunk for wider spacing between fixtures in the row. Both support the same 40A capacity and 1:1 fixture-to-T-Cable ratio.

Does this system require an electrician to install?+

Yes — the Panel Mount Pigtail must be hardwired into the junction box by a licensed electrician working with an electrical engineer. All downstream connections after the initial tie-in are plug-and-play, but the initial installation and any service work must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

How many fixtures can I run on a single 40A circuit?+

The maximum fixture count depends on your voltage and fixture wattage — refer to the Maximum Devices Per 40A Circuit table above. For example, at 277V with 680W fixtures, a single 40A circuit supports up to 12 fixtures. Never exceed the maximum device counts shown for your specific voltage and wattage combination.

Which PHOTOBIO fixtures are compatible with this system?+

The AC Power Distribution Tree is compatible with PHOTOBIO LED fixtures, including the MX2, CX 2125, and TX2 models, as well as Phantom PHENO LED and PHANTOM DE 60 Series 277-400V HID fixtures. The system is rated for use up to 480V across all supported fixture types.
