FAQs
What makes Australian Virgin charcoal better?
Australian Virgin charcoal, specifically the RC412 grade used in this filter, has a higher iodine adsorption value (1200+ IAV). This means it has more micropores to trap and neutralize a wider range of organic compounds and odors, making it significantly more effective than standard carbon.
How often should I replace the carbon filter?
The lifespan depends on usage, humidity, and the level of odors. On average, we recommend replacing the filter every 9-12 months for optimal performance. The reversible flanges can help extend its usable life.
Can I use this filter for intake and exhaust?
Yes, this filter is designed for versatile use. It can be installed on either the intake or exhaust end of your ventilation system to scrub air coming in or going out. For best results, we have a great guide on AC Infinity air filter kits.
What size fan is compatible with this 6" filter?
This filter is designed for a 6-inch duct opening and pairs perfectly with any 6-inch inline fan, such as the AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T6. Ensure your fan's CFM rating is compatible for best results.
How do I wash the pre-filter?
Simply remove the cloth pre-filter from the main carbon filter body. It can be hand-washed with mild detergent and water, or machine-washed on a gentle cycle. Allow it to air dry completely before reinstalling it.
Does this filter reduce fan noise?
While its primary function is odor elimination, a carbon filter can help muffle some of the air noise from your fan. For significant noise reduction, we recommend pairing it with a dedicated AC Infinity 6" Duct Silencer.
