Jump Start 140W Commercial Seedling Heat Mat Modular Add-on - 60" x 21"

Once your primary MTMDU commercial mat is running, scaling up your heated propagation area is as simple as connecting this add-on. The Jump Start MTMDA is the expansion unit for the Jump Start 140W Commercial Seedling Heat Mat system, adding another 60" × 21" of uniform bottom heat for each unit connected — without requiring additional outlets or controllers. Up to four MTMDA units can be daisy-chained to a single MTMDU, extending your total heated footprint to five mats running from one thermostat.

Each MTMDA delivers the same 140W output and rugged waterproof construction as the primary mat, raising root-zone temperatures 10°F–20°F above ambient to accelerate germination and rooting for hundreds of additional seedlings. This unit is perfectly sized for larger propagation setups or multiple seedling hot houses. The chain must always begin with an MTMDU unit connected to a compatible digital temperature controller — the MTMDA connects downstream, plugging into the MTMDU or into another MTMDA in the chain.

Features

🔗
Modular Daisy-Chain Expansion

Connects directly to an MTMDU primary mat or another MTMDA in series — up to four add-on units per chain for a total of five mats from one thermostat.

📐
Supersized 60" × 21" Surface

Each add-on unit adds nearly five feet of heated surface area, accommodating multiple standard trays and hundreds of additional seedlings or cuttings per cycle.

🌡️
10°F–20°F Root Zone Boost

Raises root-zone temperatures 10°F–20°F above ambient — the same proven performance as the primary MTMDU mat — for consistently accelerated germination and rooting.

💧
Waterproof Connectors

Rugged, waterproof daisy-chain connectors maintain reliable connections in the wet conditions typical of commercial propagation and greenhouse environments.

140W Commercial Output

At 140W and 120V, each MTMDA delivers the sustained heat output needed to maintain uniform root-zone temperatures across its full 60" × 21" surface area.

🎛️
MTMDU + Thermostat Required

Requires the MTMDU primary mat at the start of the chain and the Jump Start Digital Temperature Controller — both sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this add-on mat without the MTMDU primary unit? +

No. The MTMDA is an expansion unit only and must be connected downstream from a primary commercial mat. The MTMDU serves as the power and control entry point for the entire chain, connecting to the required digital thermostat. An MTMDA cannot be plugged directly into a thermostat or wall outlet on its own.

How many MTMDA units can I add to a single MTMDU? +

Up to four MTMDA add-on units can be daisy-chained to one MTMDU primary mat, for a total of five mats in the system. Each unit connects to the one before it via the waterproof daisy-chain connectors — the MTMDU always starts the chain, followed by up to four MTMDAs in sequence.

What is the total wattage of a fully loaded five-mat chain? +

Each mat in the chain — both the MTMDU and each MTMDA — draws 140W, so a fully loaded five-mat configuration totals 700W. Verify that your thermostat and wall circuit are rated to handle the combined load before connecting all five units. The Jump Start Digital Temperature Controller is rated for 1000W, which covers the full five-mat setup.

Does each add-on mat heat independently, or does the whole chain heat together? +

The entire chain is controlled by a single digital thermostat connected to the primary mat — so all mats in the chain heat together based on the same temperature set point. There is no independent zone control per mat. All units in the chain respond simultaneously to the thermostat's probe reading and set temperature.

Is this add-on mat the same size and output as the MTMDU primary mat? +

Yes. The MTMDA is dimensionally identical to the MTMDU at 60" × 21" and draws the same 140W at 120V. The only functional difference is the connection type — the MTMDU connects to a thermostat to start the chain, while the MTMDA connects to an MTMDU or another MTMDA to extend it.

Can MTMDA units be connected to each other, or does each one need to connect to the MTMDU? +

MTMDA units can connect to each other in series — they do not each need to plug directly into the MTMDU. The chain runs MTMDU → MTMDA → MTMDA → MTMDA → MTMDA, with each unit passing power to the next. Only the first unit in the chain must be the MTMDU, which is the only model that connects to the thermostat.
