Harvest Right Oil Filter

First Use Setup:

1. Remove the cartridge from its protective packaging.
2. Firmly grip the top of the cartridge and place it into the cartridge holder in the filter assembly.
3. Press down firmly on the cartridge until it creates a secure seal in the holder.
4. Optional: Use the dial on the filter lid to mark the current month as a reminder of when you last installed a new filter cartridge.

Follow these steps for proper oil filtration using your Harvest Right oil filter:

1. Drain Oil: Open the oil reservoir drain valve on your vacuum pump and allow oil to drain completely into your oil filter. For complete drainage, slightly lift the rear of the vacuum pump.
2. Filter Oil: Wait for the oil to pass through the filtration system. The specialized filter cartridge will capture contaminants and facilitate water separation.
3. Separate Water: After filtration, water and oil will naturally separate, with water sinking to the bottom of the container while oil floats on top.
4. Remove Water: Carefully pour off the filtered oil into a clean container, leaving the accumulated water behind. Important: Never pour the separated water back into your vacuum pump as this will cause damage.
5. Refill Pump: Pour the filtered (or new) oil back into your vacuum pump to the appropriate level indicated on the sight glass.

How to determine if your filtered oil is clean for use:

• Oil should be free of visible debris or particulates
• Oil should not appear milky or chalky
• Oil should have clarity (though the color may range from yellow to amber)
• Your vacuum pump should achieve appropriate pressure levels (mTorr) suitable for freeze drying

When to replace your filter cartridge:

• After approximately 15-20 filtration cycles (depending on what you're freeze drying)
• When oil no longer drains efficiently through the filter (indicating debris buildup)
• When filtered oil continues to appear milky or debris-filled after filtration
• If your vacuum pump is struggling to achieve proper vacuum levels

Filter cartridge replacement:

• Replace with Harvest Right Filter Replacement Cartridges (available in convenient 3-packs)
• Follow the same simple installation process used during initial setup
• Remember to reset the month indicator dial on the filter lid

Usage Considerations:

• The filter is not dishwasher safe - clean only with mild soap and water if necessary
• Filter should only be used for vacuum pump oil - do not use with other liquids
• Store in a clean, dry location when not in use
• One free oil filter is included with the shipment of each Harvest Right freeze dryer
