FAQs
How much carbon do I need for my filter?
This 8-pound bag is typically enough to refill a 6-inch carbon filter once, or a 4-inch carbon filter twice. Always check your filter's specific requirements for exact measurements.
What makes Australian charcoal better?
The Australian virgin charcoal used by AC Infinity has a 1200+ IAV rating and RC412 porosity, meaning it has a vast surface area with millions of micropores to trap and neutralize more odor molecules than standard carbon.
Is this compatible with other brands of carbon filters?
Yes, this activated carbon can be used to refill most standard carbon filters, as long as they are designed to be refillable. It's a versatile solution for many brands on the market.
How often should I replace the carbon in my filter?
Replacement frequency depends on usage, humidity levels, and the concentration of odors. Generally, we recommend replacing the carbon every 12-18 months or whenever you notice a decrease in odor control effectiveness.
What is the best way to handle and refill the carbon?
It's best to perform the refill in a well-ventilated area or outdoors to minimize dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Simply empty the old carbon from your filter and carefully pour in the new granules, ensuring an even fill without over-compressing. You can learn more in our guide to AC Infinity air filter kits.
