Who This Is For
- You are bridging third-party gear into your ecosystem because manual control defeats the purpose of an automated room
- You are installing this station because your primary controller needs a relay to safely handle high amp pump loads
What We Found
- The manual override button is a lifesaver for testing pumps and curtains without digging through your phone app
- We noticed the dual NO and NC flexibility makes this the best bridge for older contactors that lack RJ ports
What Users Say
- Users who integrated light deprivation curtains say they finally stopped waking up at dawn just to pull tarps
- Growers who linked their CO2 tanks report they stopped wasting gas since the relay only fires when sensors ask
TrolMaster DSD-1 Dry Contact Station
Many grow room devices — lighting contactors, pump contactors, CO2 equipment, light deprivation curtains — operate via dry contact signals rather than direct power switching. The TrolMaster DSD-1 Dry Contact Station provides a relay that bridges these normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) devices directly into your TrolMaster controller, enabling fully automated control without requiring you to be physically present. For irrigation setups, it can be used alongside the TrolMaster DSV-1 Environmental Control to manage solenoid valves. Any device that accepts a dry contact input and operates within the 10A, 100–240 VAC rating can be connected and controlled through the TrolMaster scheduling and sensor ecosystem.
Setup follows the standard DS module process — similar to the TrolMaster TSB-1 Environmental Control — connect via RJ12, address to the controller, and automation begins. Both RJ12 cables and a T-splitter are included for immediate installation.
Compatibility: TrolMaster Aqua-X, Hydro-X, Carbon-X, Green-X, and Tent-X Systems
If you are unsure whether a specific device is compatible with the DSD-1, consult TrolMaster support before connecting.

FAQs
A dry contact is a relay switch that opens or closes a circuit without passing any voltage through the contact itself — the connected device supplies its own power. Many grow room devices use dry contact inputs for trigger and control signals, including lighting contactors, light deprivation curtains, and irrigation components like those found in the TrolMaster Aqua-X NFS-1 system. If your device has a remote input, external trigger, or interlock port, it likely accepts a dry contact signal.
A normally open (NO) device circuit is open by default and closes when the relay triggers — activating the device when a signal is sent. A normally closed (NC) device circuit is closed by default and opens when the relay triggers — deactivating the device when a signal is sent. The DSD-1 supports both configurations, so it can control devices regardless of how their trigger input is wired.
The DSD-1 is compatible with any dry-contact device operating within the 10A, 100–240 VAC rating. Confirmed compatible device types include lighting contactors, light deprivation curtains, pump contactors, and ventilation fans managed by modules like the TrolMaster ECS-1 Environmental Control. If you are unsure whether a specific device is compatible, TrolMaster recommends consulting their support team before connecting.
The TrolMaster DSP-1 and TrolMaster DSP-2 Environmental Control units are power device stations — they switch mains voltage directly to connected devices at up to 10A. The DSD-1 is a dry contact station — it triggers devices via a signal relay rather than by switching power directly. This makes the DSD-1 the correct choice for devices that have their own power supply and use a dry contact input for external control, such as contactors, curtain motors, and third-party climate controllers.
After connecting the DSD-1 via RJ12 cable, press the small button on the module once to link it to your TrolMaster controller. The LED will confirm the connection — fast blinking green means unaddressed, slow blinking green means addressed and standing by for controller commands.
Yes. Press and hold the button on the DSD-1 to manually toggle the relay on or off directly from the module. This is useful during setup, testing, or any time you need to trigger the connected device independently of the controller's automated schedule.
The DSD-1 is compatible with the TrolMaster Aqua-X NFS-2, NFS-3, Hydro-X HCS-2, Carbon-X, Green-X, and Tent-X control platforms — the broadest compatibility range in the DS module lineup. It connects via the standard RJ12 interface shared across all TrolMaster DS-type modules.
