Who This Is For
- You are monitoring TDS levels because fluctuating nutrient concentrations are causing visible stress in your crop.
- You are upgrading to a digital meter because manual reagent tests are too slow for your daily reservoir checks.
What We Found
- We noticed the manual calibration screw is more reliable than digital buttons that can fail after a few splashes.
- The vinyl case is not just for show, it actually keeps the sensor from getting banged around in a tool bag.
What Users Say
- Users who switched to this pen say they stopped double-checking every reading with expensive benchtop equipment.
- Growers tell us the battery life is a relief since they go a full year without hunting for replacements.

FAQs
The TDS-3 is factory calibrated but can be manually adjusted. Use a 342 ppm NaCl solution and a small screwdriver to turn the calibration trimmer located in the hole on the back of the meter until the display matches the solution value.
While the TDS-3 displays readings in ppm (Total Dissolved Solids), it calculates this value based on the electrical conductivity of the water. For direct EC readings, we recommend the HM Digital COM-80.
The TDS-3 is water-resistant, meaning it can handle splashes, but it should not be fully submerged in liquid beyond the maximum immersion level.
When the TDS reading exceeds 999 ppm, a 'x10' icon will appear on the LCD. Multiply the displayed number by 10 to get the actual ppm value.
With a battery life of approximately 1000 hours, most users will only need to replace the two LR44 batteries once every year or two, depending on frequency of use.
