Does installing the HR membrane affect the system's 2:1 waste ratio? +

No — the 2:1 waste ratio is determined by the GX Series system design and plumbing configuration, not the membrane version installed. Switching from HF to HR affects output flow rate and permeate TDS only; the overall system efficiency and waste ratio remain the same.

Should I flush the membrane before putting it into service? +

Yes — flushing a new membrane at initial start-up is strongly recommended. New elements contain a preservation solution that must be purged before collecting permeate water for use.
