This 4-pot kit is easy to assemble with a no-glue, snap-fit design, making setup and maintenance a breeze. While this model is perfect for a compact setup, the system is fully scalable. For different cultivation styles, consider the AERO system for aeroponics or an RDWC system for deep water culture.

Please note: A nutrient reservoir/tank is required to operate the RAIN system but is not included. We recommend a tank with a minimum capacity of 30 gallons. GardenTank collapsible tanks are available, or you can supply your own.

Setup & Maintenance

System Setup Steps:

1. Prepare Pots

Attach the necessary fittings to the pots.

2. Connect the System

Use piping to connect the pots and the header pot to establish the recirculating network.

3. Install Air System

Set up the air pump and connect it to the air stones in the pots.

4. Integrate Pumps

Install the water pump(s) for recirculation and chilling (if applicable).

5. Set Up Nutrient Tank

Connect the nutrient tank to the system.

6. Fill the System

Add water to the system.

Maintenance Tips:

  • Maintain a 50-75cm center distance between each pot.
  • Alien Hydroponics recommends a watering frequency of one minute every hour.
  • Regularly check the filter for debris.
  • Use ROOT ROT X™ to sterilize and keep roots healthy.
  • Flush the system between crop cycles with clean water and disinfectant.
  • Inspect sprinklers to ensure proper misting and water distribution.

How often should the system water the plants?+

Alien Hydroponics recommends a starting frequency of one minute of watering every hour. However, this can be adjusted based on your plant's specific needs, growth stage, and the type of medium you are using. The included timer makes it easy to customize your feeding schedule.

Is a water tank included with this kit?+

No, a nutrient reservoir or tank is not included with the kit. You will need to provide your own. We recommend a tank with a minimum capacity of 30 gallons (120 liters) to ensure the system runs effectively.

Can I expand this 4-pot system later?+

Absolutely. The Alien RAIN system is designed to be modular and scalable. You can add more pots and rows as your garden grows. We also offer larger pre-configured kits, such as the 8-pot RAIN system, if you plan to expand significantly.

What makes the RAIN system different from an RDWC system?+

The key difference is the watering method. The RAIN system is a top-feed drip system that mimics rain, periodically watering the medium from above. In contrast, an RDWC system (Recirculating Deep Water Culture) constantly submerges the roots in a highly oxygenated nutrient solution. The RAIN system is more forgiving and versatile with media, while RDWC is a pure hydro method that can produce very rapid growth.

How does this system prevent root problems?+

The RAIN system uses several features to promote root health. The timed watering cycles prevent over-saturation, the efficient drainage system removes excess water quickly, and the copper drain covers naturally inhibit roots from growing into the pipework. This combination ensures roots get the perfect balance of moisture, nutrients, and oxygen.
