System Setup Steps:

1. Prepare Pots

Attach the necessary fittings to the pots.

2. Connect the System

Use piping to connect the pots and the header pot to establish the recirculating network.

3. Install Air System

Set up the air pump and connect it to the air stones in the pots.

4. Integrate Pumps

Install the water pump(s) for recirculation and chilling (if applicable).

5. Set Up Nutrient Tank

Connect the nutrient tank to the system.

6. Fill the System

Add water to the system.

Maintenance Tips:

  • Maintain a 50-75cm center distance between each pot.
  • Alien Hydroponics recommends a watering frequency of one minute every hour.

What is aeroponics and how does this system work?+

Aeroponics is a method of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil. The AERO system continuously sprays a fine, nutrient-rich mist directly onto the roots, which hang in the air. This maximizes oxygen exposure and nutrient absorption, leading to faster growth and larger yields compared to traditional methods.

Is this system suitable for beginners?+

Yes, absolutely. The AERO 1 Pot Kit is designed for easy, glue-free assembly and maintenance. It automates the most critical aspects of feeding and watering, removing much of the guesswork. It's a fantastic way for beginners to achieve professional-level results with aeroponics.

What else do I need to buy to get started?+

The main component you will need to supply is a nutrient reservoir or tank. The kit includes all the pumps and fittings, but the tank is sold separately. We recommend the Alien GardenTank 30 Gallon reservoir. You will also need your choice of nutrients and a growing medium for the net pot (like clay pebbles or rockwool).

Can I expand this 1-pot kit later on?+

Yes, the Alien AERO system is fully modular and designed for expansion. You can easily add more pots to your setup as your needs grow, connecting them with additional pipework and fittings. You can scale up to 36 pots with the AERO system for a larger operation.

What's the difference between the AERO and RDWC systems?+

The key difference is the hydroponic method. The AERO system uses aeroponics (misting roots in the air), which maximizes oxygen. In contrast, Alien RDWC systems, like the popular 1 Pot RDWC Kit, use Recirculating Deep Water Culture, where roots are submerged in a highly-oxygenated nutrient solution. Both are highly effective, but aeroponics can offer faster growth rates for certain plants.
