Setup and Maintenance

System Setup Steps:

1. Prepare Pots

Attach the necessary fittings to the pots.

2. Connect the System

Use piping to connect the pots and the header pot to establish the recirculating network.

3. Install Air System

Set up the air pump and connect it to the air stones in the pots.

4. Integrate Pumps

Install the water pump(s) for recirculation and chilling (if applicable).

5. Set Up Nutrient Tank

Connect the nutrient tank to the system.

6. Fill the System

Add water to the system.

Maintenance Tips:

Maintain a 50-75cm center distance between each pot.
Alien Hydro recommends a watering frequency of one minute every hour.
Regularly check the filter for debris.
Minimal cleaning is required when using mineral-based nutrients.
Flush the system between crop cycles with clean water and disinfectant.
Inspect sprinklers to ensure proper misting and water distribution.

Do I need to buy anything else to get started?+

Yes, this kit requires a nutrient reservoir/tank, which is not included. The recommended minimum capacity is 30 gallons (120 Liters). We offer compatible reservoirs like the Alien Hydroponics 30 Gallon GardenTank, or you can use your own. You will also need your preferred growing medium (like clay pebbles) and nutrients.

Can I expand this system later on?+

Absolutely. The Alien AERO system is designed to be fully modular and scalable. You can easily add more pots to your setup, expanding up to 36 pots. We offer various kits to help you expand, such as the 8 Pot, 2 Row AERO System, allowing you to customize the layout to fit your growing space perfectly.

How does the AERO system differ from an RDWC system?+

The main difference is how nutrients are delivered. The AERO system uses a high-pressure pump to spray a fine mist onto the roots in an oxygen-rich environment. In contrast, a Recirculating Deep Water Culture (RDWC) system, like the Alien RDWC, submerges the roots in a highly-oxygenated nutrient solution that constantly circulates. Both are highly effective, but aeroponics can offer faster growth rates due to superior root oxygenation.

How often should I clean the system?+

Minimal cleaning is required, especially when using mineral-based nutrients. It's recommended to regularly check the main filter for any debris and inspect the sprinklers to ensure they are not clogged. A full system flush with clean water and a disinfectant is advised between crop cycles to ensure a sterile environment for your next grow.
