System Setup Steps:

1. Prepare Pots

Attach the necessary fittings to the pots.

2. Connect the System

Use piping to connect the pots and the header pot to establish the recirculating network.

3. Install Air System

Set up the air pump and connect it to the air stones in the pots.

4. Integrate Pumps

Install the water pump(s) for recirculation and chilling (if applicable).

5. Set Up Nutrient Tank

Connect the nutrient tank to the system.

6. Fill the System

Add water to the system.

Maintenance Tips:

  • Maintain a 50-75cm center distance between each pot.
  • Alien Hydroponics recommends a watering frequency of one minute every hour.

What growing media can I use with the RAIN system?+

The RAIN system is highly versatile and can be used with soil, coco, or any other loose growing medium. Unlike DWC systems, it does not require a minimal medium approach, giving you more flexibility.

Is a water tank included with the kit?+

No, a nutrient reservoir or tank is required for operation but is not included in this kit. You must supply your own tank with a recommended minimum capacity of 30 gallons (120 Liters) for this 6-pot system.

What is the recommended watering schedule?+

Alien Hydroponics recommends a starting frequency of one minute of watering every hour. You can adjust this schedule based on your specific plant needs, medium, and environmental conditions using the included cycle timer.

Can I expand this system in the future?+

Absolutely. The RAIN system is fully modular. You can easily expand your setup by adding more pots and rows. We offer larger kits, such as the 12 Pot 3 Row Kit, and individual components to accommodate your growing needs.

How does this differ from an RDWC system?+

The RAIN system is a top-feed drip system that mimics rain, making it ideal for soil or coco. An Alien Hydroponics RDWC (Recirculating Deep Water Culture) system submerges the roots directly in an oxygen-rich nutrient solution, which is better suited for soilless cultivation.

How does the system prevent root problems?+

The system incorporates several features to promote root health. The copper-plated drain cover naturally deters roots from entering the pipes, while the Dual-Flow™ fittings and efficient drainage prevent waterlogging and ensure the root zone doesn't become oversaturated.
