Who This Is For

  • You are checking soil pH because you suspect nutrient lockout is preventing your plants from reaching their full potential.
  • You are monitoring moisture levels by hand because you want to stop guessing when your plants need water.

What We Found

  • The analog dial is refreshing because you can get a quick look at your levels without needing to charge anything.
  • We recommend this for anyone who wants a simple, no-nonsense diagnostic tool that survives years of daily use.

What Users Say

  • Growers who swapped from digital probes say they stopped dealing with dead batteries during critical growth stages.
  • Users who started tracking pH daily report they can now catch nutrient issues before they start showing on leaves.

Active Air 2-Way Moisture/pH Meter

When all you need are the two most critical soil diagnostics, the Active Air 2-Way Moisture/pH Meter delivers both in a compact, battery-free tool built for everyday growing. To ensure your environment is as balanced as your soil, many growers also track atmospheric conditions with an Active Air Hygro-Thermometer. Overwatering and pH imbalance are among the most common causes of poor plant performance — this meter puts both readings at your fingertips instantly, with no setup, no charging, and no guesswork.

Moisture readings register on a graduated scale of 0 (dry) to 10 (moist), while pH coverage spans 3 (acidic) to 10 (basic) — a wider alkaline range than most entry-level meters. Durable enough for repeated use in garden beds, containers, and grow tents alike, the Active Air 2-Way Meter is a reliable grab-and-go diagnostic for any soil grower.

Features

🔬
2-in-1 Testing

Measures both soil moisture and pH from a single probe insertion — no need to switch tools between your two most essential soil checks.

🔋
No Batteries Required

Fully passive operation with no charging or battery replacement — ready to use whenever you need it.

💧
Moisture Scale 0–10

Graduated 10-point scale provides a clear dry-to-moist reading so you can time waterings accurately and avoid overwatering.

🧪
Wide pH Range 3–10

Covers strongly acidic to basic conditions — a broader alkaline range than many comparable meters — to catch imbalances before they cause nutrient lockout.

🌿
Indoor & Outdoor Use

Durable construction handles garden beds, grow tents equipped with Active Air wall mount fans, raised planters, and outdoor containers with equal reliability.

👁️
Easy-to-Read Display

Large analog dial with clear scale markings delivers at-a-glance readings — no interpretation or digital calibration needed.

FAQ

What is the difference between the 2-Way and 3-Way Active Air meters? +

The Active Air 3-Way Meter adds a light intensity reading (0–2000 LUX) on top of moisture and pH, making it the better choice if you also want to monitor your grow light coverage or natural sunlight levels. The 2-Way Meter focuses purely on soil conditions and is ideal if light monitoring isn't a priority.

Does the 2-Way Meter require batteries? +

No — the meter is entirely battery-free. It generates the small electrical signal needed for readings through direct contact with the soil, so there's nothing to charge or replace before use.

How do I switch between moisture and pH readings? +

Use the selector switch on the meter body to toggle between moisture and pH modes. Insert the probe into your growing media, select the desired mode, and read the result directly from the analog dial — no warm-up or calibration required.

Why does the 2-Way Meter have a wider pH range than the 3-Way? +

The 2-Way Meter covers pH 3–10, while the 3-Way covers pH 3.5–8. The wider range on the 2-Way makes it slightly more useful in situations where soil may be unusually alkaline — such as certain outdoor or native soils — though most cultivated growing media will fall well within both meters' ranges.

How do I keep the probe accurate over time? +

Remove the probe from the soil after every use and wipe the metal prongs clean with a damp cloth. Leaving the probe inserted between uses causes mineral buildup and oxidation on the contacts, which degrades reading accuracy. Store the meter dry when not in use.

Can I use this meter in coco coir or soilless media? +

The 2-Way Meter is optimized for soil and peat-based growing media. In inert soilless substrates like dry coco coir, rockwool, or hydroton, readings may be inconsistent because these materials don't hold the ionic charge the probe relies on. For hydroponic or soilless systems, a liquid pH pen is the more reliable tool.

Is the 2-Way Meter suitable for outdoor garden use? +

Yes — the meter is built for both indoor and outdoor environments. It works equally well in raised garden beds, outdoor containers, and in-ground plantings. Just clean and dry the probe after each use to maintain accuracy and extend the meter's lifespan.
